We choose what, or who, will die.

There is an old quote from John Owen: “Be killing sin or it will be killing you.” There is no middle ground. If you are not actively engaged in the death of your sin, it will be actively engaged in killing you. Ignoring it will not help. It’s just reality.

1 Peter 5.8: Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

Genesis 4.7: Sin is crouching at the door. Its desire is contrary to you, but you must rule over it.

Galatians 5.17: For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.

We Want Help. We Need Help.

That is why we are doing a series called All Out War. We have made it our specific aim in these few weeks to declare open warfare on our sin. All of us, together. You will not be able to do it alone. You will need help. You will need family. You will need others in the body of Christ. You will need your Missional Community. Please ask for help. And please offer your help. Let’s make the most of this season by being honest, vulnerable, and aggressive.
